Exhibition at ONCA Gallery, Brighton

'Nesting - A Sense of Home' : 6th - 23th January

"Ellen will be working primarily with willow and found objects from around Brighton, weaving together a human-sized nest-like space for people to enter and contemplate the concept of home, and what that means for them. Displayed within will be a variety of people's stories telling their relationship with home."

I have collaborated with a group called Jungleye, who are 15 artists currently living in Calais refugee camp. They have been working with a photographer from Barcelona who has supplied them with cameras. They have sent me a selection of their favourite photogrpahs taken of life in the camp, along with some poetic quotes to help narrate the pictures. These are hung inside the nest that I have made for the exhibition. I hope to generate a sense of compassion amongst those who visit the show, and to remind people that these refugees have talent and ability just like us.
